Community Health Fair at Ramon Velez
On Friday, August 6, 2021, La Casa de Salud in partnership with Acacia Network kicked off National Health Center Week with a free Community Health Fair at the Ramón Velez Health Center in the South Bronx.
Doctors and medical staff from Acacia Network’s Ramón Velez Health Center administered COVID-19 vaccines, physicals and health screenings during the full-day celebration, which will included music, an onsite job fair, activities and giveaways.
National Health Center Week (NHCW) is a national week-long celebration that highlights the immense contributions of health centers across the United States, which provide preventive and primary care services to 30 million+ people annually and play a critical role in the health and safety of our communities, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has disproportionately impacted the vulnerable populations.
In addition, community health centers –like the Ramon Velez Health Center– lower health care costs to the tune of 24 billion dollars a year, reduce rates of chronic diseases, and stimulate local economies. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
The Ramón Velez Health Center is one of four federally-qualified health centers (FQHC) operated by La Casa de Salud, Inc.
